....as promised, here are a few more remedies that I commonly use to safely treat winter illnesses in adults and children:
Bryonia: Symptoms are slow to develop. Prominent symptoms are dryness, irritability and pains that are made worse by the slightest movement and improved by pressure applied to the affected area. The irritability is characterised by a desire to be left alone. Children may reject what they just asked for.
Phosphorus: The characteristic symptom is a hacking, tickling cough that is often accompanied by sweating and is worse at night and breathing cold air. There may be a desire for cold drinks or ice cream, that are likely to be vomited up immediately. Children (and adults!) will want cuddles or to be stroked and massaged and will feel better for it.
Rhus tox: Symptoms are slow to develop. Prominent symptoms are fever with high temperature, great restlessness with a need to constantly change position and stiff and painful muscles. Any draft or cold air will make symptoms worse. The fever is characterised by a feeling of heat inside, while the skin is cold to the touch. Typically there is a desire for small sips of water.
Nux Vom: The characteristic symptom is a sore throat that feels rough and scraped with a constricted feeling and hoarseness. The pain may extend into the ear. Other prominent symptoms are a heavy feeling in the stomach with nausea and vomiting and great irritability with intolerance of noise, light or odours.
